How much does a fence cost in Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach County?
Installed pricing in the tri-county market generally runs $22–$38 per linear foot for chain link, $32–$72 for wood, $38–$78 for aluminum, $42–$85 for vinyl and $65–$180 for fabricated wrought iron. Driveway gates with automation are quoted separately, typically $6,500–$45,000. The variables that move a quote most are height, gate count, coral rock excavation, tight access and demolition of an existing fence.
Do I need a permit to install a fence in South Florida?
Yes. Every municipality in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County requires a fence permit, and the application normally requires a current boundary survey with the fence line drawn to scale. Pool barriers require an additional inspection. IronLine Fence prepares and submits the package and meets the inspector.
How close to the property line can I build a fence?
Most municipalities here allow a fence on the property line itself, but corner-lot visibility triangles, utility and drainage easements, canal and lake maintenance easements, and setbacks in front yards all restrict placement — and front-yard height is commonly capped at 4 feet with 6 feet allowed in side and rear yards. We verify the specific rule in your city before we dig.
What fence holds up best in a hurricane?
Open-picket aluminum and ornamental steel perform best because wind passes through. Among solid privacy options, reinforced vinyl on 6-foot post spacing with deep poured footers outperforms conventional wood. In every case the footer and post spacing matter more than the material.
How long does the whole process take?
Budget one to two days for the estimate, one to three weeks for permitting depending on the municipality, and one to three days on site for a typical residential installation. Custom iron and automated gates add two to five weeks of fabrication.
